If I've seemed a bit secretive the last little while, it's partly because I've been busy. You know how most people have a "in my lifetime" list of far out things they'd love to do? Writing a book, and publishing it, were at the top of my list. So, I'm introducing
Nickie's Nook: Sharing the Journey

It's a compilation of essays, entries and stories from this blog and the now-dead "Stories of Julio" blog. It's available in print or electronically, and the pdf seems accessible, though there are instructions in the email you're sent after you make your purchase for what to do if it doesn't work for you.

Part of the proceeds are going to Guide Dogs for the Blind, part will go to an RSD organization and part will be actual monitary benefit to me. Self-publishing is actually a lot of fun, but does inspire some frustration. I hope you enjoy the book, and don't hesitate to share this information with friends.

Thanks! It's pretty intoxicating at this point.

That's awesome! Although, I'm interested, what made you decide to self-publish, rather than trying to get signed by a publisher?

Mainly that I wanted to enjoy the process, and the money is better self-publishing and the pressure is only on me for what I want.

I see. That's cool. I hope it sells well, and I bet it will!

Okay, well, I haven't read the book and don't know if I will buy it. But thanks for pointing out the idea of self -publishing. I myself am writing a book, don't know whether I will ever finish it or whether I want to com, but.. Anyway, how did you you come across the idea? Would you mind explaining the process he you went through to self publish. I applaud your efforts.

Hi Nickie,

My name is Laurel I am a fellow St. Kate's student and I was in the library the other day. I was looking at a collection of new books and I happened to notice that "Nickie's Nook" was among the collection. I decided to check it out and I must say I absolutely love it!!!! It is such an incredible collection of essays, stories, etc. I have found it so interesting and I can't wait to read more of it!!!
