Today, I think I did something good. I know intellectually about the use of pacing to manage pain. I'm still very high on the pain scale, but I decided that if I don't do something, even if I try to push really hard through all of it, I'm going to be in trouble. Because at some point, my body will give out if I don't give it a break. So, anyway, I took a short break just now.
I was trying to figure out what I could do that was fun and productive at the same time. So, of course, I grabbed the
and started working with Julio. We've been working on come off leash, which he's gotten pretty darn good at, so today we worked also on heel off leash. Using my hand as a target, I began shaping Julio to heel. And, it was pretty successful. Certainly, we didn't sspend a lot of time on it, but as Karen Pryor (can't remember how to spell her name right now), suggests, I kept it short and successful, and we ended on a high note.
So, I did something good for me and the pup. And that's definitely something for me to click about.
