I continue to underestimate how things will influence pain levels, but I'm finding ways to take care of myself. I do wish my body would let me get enough rest, but I guess that just comes with the territory. I am having a lot of fun so far, and I think my classes will be okay. I'm excited right now about starting my Intro to Socialwork class. I think it's going to be challenging, but hopefully I'll get an idea of whether it's the right fit for me. The disadvantage to this class is there's no getting around using stairs. I wish there were, because I still feel like I'll fall when I'm on them (I haven't yet). But if it's a good class, it will be worth it!
I'm going to be doing a lot of personal and critical reflection for this semester. Mainly, I need to relfect on Bible passages and other literary passages as they relate to my Honors Holy Writ Rewrit class (the Bible in literature). I also suspect that I'll need to reflect on socialwork concepts and such. I don't know how much of it will be public, but this is your fair warning.
Julio is adjusting as well as can be expected. It's a challenge for him, as sometimes I can move fluidly, and sometimes just getting to a standing position is a challenge. It seems to me, (although it's just a perception), that my foot cooperates less when it's hitting the higher numbers on the pain scale or swollen. I'm not even sure if that's a valid observation, but it's what I notice.
In more exciting news, I don't know if I ever described my new fan. It's very cool, and I want to say that my parents did a great job picking it out. It has three circular fans stacked on top of eachother. The fans can each be turned in different directions. This is nice, because it's a constant flow, unlike ossolating (sp?) fans, which are like an air version of those moving sprinklers. This way, it's constant. The fun thing about this fan is that each circle is a different color (green on top, yellowish-orange in the middle and red on the bottom, just like a stoplight). I really like this fan!
I'm going to put together a post of links some time in the near future. I'll also have more reflections I'm sure. I have PT today, and I'm happy to say that ALL of my exercises are now done with the red band!
Everyone, please have a good day.
