Chronic illness/pain and surgery

If you watch my
links or read the
feedburner feed
you know that yesterday I linked to a fabulous article about what happens after surgery when you have a chronic illness and the surgery won't cure you.

This article
is written by someone with TMJ. I think it describes the issues well. For me, there was a rush coming up to the surgery, and it was hard to explain that the surgery could make the RSD flare and might not even help the RSD. It's hard to explain RSD in the first place.

I still receive the support I need, and my friends have been incredibly understanding. But it's hard to explain the issues to others who don't know me very well and haven't read my blog. Hey, I don't even understand everything that's going on inside of this body, how can everyone else?

Sometimes, just knowing that I'm not the only one with these thoughts bouncing off the sides of my empty skull is really helpful.

Today, I'm giving thanks for all of you who've continued walking this journey with me.
