Lean on me

I don't exactly know where this memory is coming from, why I remember this now, but I need to write it down. I post so frequently about anything and everything, I don't know if the people I want to see this will, but I'm going to share it anyway.

When I was in junior high and high school, I was relatively active in my youth group. There were a lot of things I chose not to go to, and I now wish I had. But one thing I always went to was Jumys and Umys. (United Methodist Youth or with a j for Junior). At these weekend long conferences, we worshipped, sang, danced, talked, learned and had a great time. One thing you could count on was singing "Lean on Me". Over a thousand youth would put their arms around each other and sway back and forth, sing at the top of our lungs. When we went on
ASP Home
the same thing happened. And despite all of the things that happen, going away to college, having nasty things happen in our church and all of the stuff that comes with being a human, we're still there for each other. I did some stupid stuff (well, I still do), but they've been there for me.

To be honest, I've lost the point of this entry. But as I've journeyed through this memory, I've smiled. There are some things time can't kill.

Those lyrics are still true for all of my friends. If you ever need me, just let me know. And to anyone from youth group, all I have to say is "Hey dude, the partie's over here" or "OOPS, I did it..."
