Cut cuddle and be Cute

Prayers, hope and love

I've been horrified and devistated to hear of the pain, suffering, devistation and death happening in Haiti right now. The human in me wishes I could hop on a plane and be there to help. Even if I haven't finished my schooling, I wish I could just hop on a plane to help. I wish I could go to try to find resources, listen to people's stories, provide a hug or shoulder to cry on and just be there for the people of Haiti in their time of need. My heart is broken for those who've lost so much. My health prevents me from doing anything hands on, so all I can do is pray and donate a portion of proceeds from
book sales
to relief efforts. That's why I was so glad to hear about the
Hope for Haiti Now

On Friday night most every channel on TV and many online sites aired an incredible show, all in the name of helping those in Haiti. Some of the biggest names in music performed pieces of music and a toll-free number was set up to allow people to donate to the relief effort. In addition, there is an album with the songs performed Friday which is available on iTunes and
as a download from Amazon

Proceeds from the sale will also go to the relief effort.

Personally, I was impressed with the show. For one thing, they didn't make a big deal of each singer. In fact, I'd say at least 75 percent of the time was devoted just to the music, the rest to information on how to help. They didn't even put the musicians' names on the bottom of the screen according to the sighted people I've spoken with about the performance. It was obvious to me that each artist was truly putting heart and soul into the music.

Also, the album isn't just something people will buy and listen to once. I bought it and honestly feel that many of the songs will help to lift my spirits long after Haiti is restored and the people of the country are helped. To me, that's a stroke of brilliance. I think more people will purchase the album if they know they can enjoy it for years to come.

I'm truly moved by this benefit and the obvious love and desire to help that has been shown by everyone from the biggest stars to those of us who blog, write and donate what little we can. It makes me wonder what would happen if this love and care for our neighbors could be displayed all of the time? Please understand, I am not saying that what's happening is bad, I think we must all give everything we can, whether that be prayers, money, donating items, donating time or even going to Haiti to help if we have the skills and ability to help. It's more that I challenge us all to do these things every day, to ease the suffering of our neighbors. I know that those who have done that for me have truly changed my life.

I'll leave you with this quote:
