Hi and welcome to my blog! I'm Nickie and I'm glad you've stopped by. This blog mainly chronicles my life and how I view it, but sometimes news items or articles of interest are linked to and discussed at length. This blog is my place to tackle the things that confront me in every day life.


So who am I? I’m a college student, in the process of getting a degree in social work. I hope to work in the medical social work field. I love the concepts which are discussed in social work, and I am so excited to work in a field which reflects many of my values.


As for me personally, I’m blind, and proud to be that way. I can see light and colors on a good day, and less on a bad day. I have a chronic pain/nerve condition called Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (It used to be known as Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy. Chronic pain really does influence a large part of my life. This blog helps me deal with that.


Another thing which influences my life is my Guide Dog, Julio. Julio is a yellow lab from Guide Dogs for the Blind. He’s a great dog with a great personality. He is the only other regular contributor to this blog.
