Okay, so they're probably sweet potatos, but whatever. It's that time once again, the time everyone gets to nag me about my eating habits at the Thanksgiving table. But that's not what this time of year is about. After all of what went on this year, it's time to be thankful. Each experience has something to teach us, and I'm going to try to put everything into perspective by looking at what I've learned, and what I'm just plain thankful for. Here, in no particular order, are some things I'm thankful for.

  • Faith lessons that don't go away.
  • My stages of Christian life course that taught me that being a college student in regards to faith is okay.
  • Friends who emailed, instant messaged or called to encourage me.
  • My family putting up with the disruption the surgery and RSD cause to our lives.
  • Friends who tell me things I don't want to hear nicely.
  • Friends who understand immediately when I ask the question"What color am I?"
  • Julio's sweet companionship and maturation as a guide and best friend.
  • The chance to learn what works for healing and pain management, especially non-drug solutions.
  • Professors who are understanding and willing to make accommodations, or spend extra time helping me when I need it.
  • People who trust me enough to let me try new things.
  • People who have gone out of their way to help me figure things out when I'm confused.
  • The chance to get an education, and learn.
  • Social work, and the way I feel a pull, or calling, to it.
  • Relaxation class, were I'm being forced to stretch my understanding of relaxation techniques.
  • Music class last semester, where I learned that appreciation of music can be my form of aesthetic comprehension.
  • The people who helped me when I was in the hospital, and how friendly they were, even when I litterally barfed as they walked in the door.
  • Doctors who are sensitive to the issues I deal with, and willing to work around the challenges of dealing with RSD and blindness at the same time.
  • People who take me places to get me out of my shell.
  • R.A.'s and dorm mates who check to make sure I'm safe if the fire alarm goes off.
  • People at the pain clinic who've been supportive.
  • Blog friends, who write so well, and encourage me to think about new and different ideas.
  • My physical therapist, who helped me make more progress than I thought was possible.
  • Coffee.
  • A safe, supportive environment in which to live.
  • This blog, and the freedom to write what I want and need to.
  • Lidoderm, Lyrica, Celebrex, Amitriptyline Percocet and Ambien, which I can use to help me function more normally.
  • Heating patches, and ice packs, which make the pain more manageable.
  • Lavender.
  • Good books, and the means with which I read them.
  • Technology which equalizes the playing field.
  • People who allow me to bounce ideas off of them when I need help sorting things out.
  • The rights which people fought for, that I now enjoy.

I could go on and on, but you get the picture. I really am grateful, that these people, things and concepts are here.

Wow, it's so great to see people with such a view on life. Your list really touched me and made me think about life and such the likes.

*cough* I'm sorry I just dropped in but I found your journal via Katia_chan's journal while just goofing around. I'll go now. I just wanted to express my respect for a moment.
