Extra, Extra! Squirrels are wild animals

Squirrel Alert
Posted on Thursday, October 12, 2006

Squirrel bites reported to Health and Wellness Center.

The Health and Wellness Center wishes to remind you that the squirrels on our campus are wild animals. We have seen several students in the past week with squirrel bites. Squirrels do not carry rabies but they can transmit other infections to people and should be avoided. Protect yourself by not feeding these animals. If you are bitten, contact the Health and Wellness Center for more information.

And this is news because?

So who actually gets close enough to a squirrel for it to actually bite them?

Re: wierdness
I'm not even going to go there. BTW, I am sorry I missed your call; I was elevating my foot and fell asleep.

My hobby as a collector
I have close to 900 squirrels - porcelain figurines, wood, silver, faceted glass, old toys, wall hangings and the like. The Christmas squirrels I have cover a small tree. I made a trip to Canada to photograph the sleek-black squirrels in Stanley Park. Never, ever would I have a live animal like that in captivity.
