Training with a Guide Dog

One of the blogs I watch is from the American Foundation for the Blind. This is a great blog if you want to learn about blindness issues. Right now, there's an AFB employee training at
The Seeing Eye

If you'd like to check out what it's like training with a dog guide,
go to this category on the AFB blog.

For now, my training journal is still down, but I'm considering how to reuse it. There are good reasons for me keeping it down for now, but I would like to edit it and re post it. Maybe I could do that as back dated entries in my own journal here.

A disclaimer: I didn't train at The Seeing Eye. I chose to train at
Guide Dogs For The Blind
Both are great schools, just as there are many excellent colleges. But each school handles some issues differently. There's nothing that says that everyone has to train dogs and students the same way, and I think that's good. I wouldn't fit at a large university, just as others wouldn't fit at a women's college.

I loved this post. I trained with my Service Dog at the Lions Foundation of Canada in Oakville, Ontario, Canada. It was a really great experience and they've always handled any situations that have come up with confidence, education and care.
